2021 Postponed Until 2022

Each year as part of the event we stage a 15s Charity Match as a curtain raiser to the tournament on the Friday Night. This will be an Abbey RFC Select and Invitational XV vs a Wooden Spoon Select and Invitational XV.

FB7s 2021 - POSTPONED UNTIL 2022

As I'm sure most of you were already expecting to hear due to these difficult times, this year’s Fat boys 7s tournament is now postponed until 2022.

Unfortunately with the contintued uncertainty as to when things will fully open, despite some loose dates being released, it is still not clear enough for us to be able dedicate the time and effort to organise.

God willing everything will be back to near complete normality by next year and the tournament will be back, bigger and better.

Keep safe all and look forward to seeing you all again.

The Fat Blokes Sevens is organised by Abbey Rugby Football Club. We are a group of highly trained athletes with a love of rugby and surreal humour. Abbey RFC are affiliated to Berkshire RFU.

We aim to benefit other charities during the course of the event - this means organising or taking part in group activities which will be fun for those taking part and beneficial to the selected charities.

The Fat Bloke Sevens, is a unique tournament for those who'd like to play sevens but aren't of the body type or fitness usually associated with the game... this is a FUN tournament and although we structure leagues to cater for all abilities we would remind you that this is not a "serious" 7s tournament.

What's On

  • - Friday evening charity game - 7.30pm KO.
  • - We have a LIVE band Friday night in the clubhouse - The Salty Dogs from 9.00pm.
  • - We have a late disco in the clubhouse Friday night.
  • - We have sausage, mash, peas and gravy for the Friday evening meal.
  • - We have Saturday morning breakfast rolls available from 8.00am in the clubhouse.
  • - There will be fresh coffee being served from the Runner Bean Cafe from 6.30am Saturday.
  • - There will be an ice cream van available all day.
  • - Rugby kicks off at 9.30am on Saturday.
  • - Huge BBQ all afternoon Saturday from 12pm.
  • - We are serving hot pork rolls from 5pm Saturday in the clubhouse, plus there will be a food stall outside.
  • - We have food TBC Saturday night
  • - We've a LIVE BAND Saturday night in the clubhouse - TBC.
  • - We have a late disco in the club house Saturday night.
  • - Sunday full breakfast will be available from 8.30am in the Clubhouse.

Team Entrance

Entrance for 2020 is priced at £150 for both men's and ladies' - this is payable via the PayPal link below and available on a first come first serve basis.

General Admission & Camping

All teams can camp at the festival. This year we are operating a wristband entry to include general admission and camping at the price of £10 per person for two-days (if you arrive Friday) and £5 per person for one-day (if you arrive Saturday)! This is to be paid in CASH on the day in exchange for a wristband and entry. There are some important things to note:

When entering a team, it is essential you advise on how many tents you are expecting - this way we can allocate pitches in team blocks. If you have a large tent or a camper van, please inform us ASAP and include the team you are with.

We will issue you with a receipt for all bookings and teams will also receive a welcome pack. You can also print off or make a note of the reference number to help with team entry on the day.

• Lateness to games will incur a 5 point pentalty per minute - be on time!
• No pets allowed. Guide dogs only.
• STRICTLY no PAs or Sound Systems in the campsite past 11.30pm
• No excessive volumes of alchohol to be brought onto the site.
• Please refrain from using disposable BBQs and Chinese lanterns.
• Please be honest about your playing level.
